Vistara to operate with ‘AI 2’ code after merger with Air India

Air India announced that following the merger, Vistara aircraft will operate under Air India’s brand and be identified by a special four-digit code starting with “2”. For instance, flight UK 955 will become AI 2955, making it easier for customers to book on Air India’s website after November 12.
The routes and schedules for Vistara aircraft will remain unchanged, and passengers will continue to enjoy the familiar Vistara in-flight experience, including the menu, cutlery, and service, all provided by the same crew.
Members of Club Vistara will be seamlessly transitioned to Air India’s Flying Returns programme, which will evolve into the newly branded ‘Maharaja Club’.
Vistara, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA), is set to formally merge with Air India on November 12, 2024.
In the meantime, Air India is upgrading its narrowbody fleet, with new aircraft deliveries and the refitting of legacy planes featuring entirely new interiors. The catering services from Vistara will also extend to Air India.
Additionally, Air India’s widebody fleet has been enhanced with the introduction of six A350 aircraft, which are currently operating routes between Delhi and London, with plans to soon serve the Delhi to New York route.
The airline has initiated a retrofit programme, starting with the first A320neo narrowbody aircraft sent for refurbishment in early September. A total of 27 legacy narrowbody aircraft are set to be fully refurbished, with completion expected by mid-2025.
Through a comprehensive multimedia campaign, Air India highlighted that the unified airline offers passengers limitless opportunities, including unparalleled connections to over 90 domestic and international destinations, along with access to over 800 additional destinations through codeshare and interline partners.
